TEN EAST. Extraterrestial Highway.

10 East is the highway that leaves Los Angeles toward the cities of the desert and “Extraterrestial Highway” is the soundtrack/homage that have created this four veterans musicians of the of Coachella Valley scene: Gary Arce (Yawning Man, Oddio Gasser), Mario Lalli (Fatso Jetson, Orquesta del Desierto), Brant Bjork (Kyuss, The Bros) and Bill Stinson (Chuck Dukowski Sextet). Four of the most productive, interesting and introverts musicians of the present scene that don´t need introduction for anyone who´s been on the track of what happened in rock music in the last 10 or 15 years.
Not just because Gary Arce and Mario Lalli commanded the desert scene (from which Kyuss would arise) with bands like Across The River, Yawning Man or Sort Of Quartet but for all their implication with the punk/alternative movement that was created and fed by SST in the 80´s with bands like Black Flag or Saccharine Trust and that served of quarry and inspiration to many 90´s key bands; from Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Queens of The Stone Age, passing thru Sonic Youth, Jane´s Adicction or Soundgarden. And the fact is that while Brant Bjork conquered the heavy rock of the 90´s with the already legendary Kyuss, Gary Arce, Mario Lalli and Bill Stinson they were tanned in jams with musicians of the size of Greg Ginn, Mike Watt, Nels Cline or Chuck Dukowski and they learned listening to albums by Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, Thelonius Monk or Sonny Sharrock.
All this gave as a result an infinity of projects that are synthesized now, someway, in Ten East. Where the four musicians are shown relaxed and they leave us to make out a little of all those influences, transmitting the unique feeling of spontaneity and ease of a jazz quartet. Because Ten East offer something that seems forgot nowadays, the feeling of a real album, full of alive music, without contrivances of study neither months of recording. Four musicians that gather to create something special just being based in their talent and whose only goal is the creation of sincere and honest music. Something as evident and difficult to find nowadays.

ORTHODOX. Gran Poder.

"We started with a concept”, could be read in the album cover of the seminal band Earth. The spanish trio Orthodox could say the same. Their music, their performance, their artwork, everything is made in order to develop their own concept.
The band started in the winter of 2004/05 and the next April they recorded the two themes of “Gran Poder”, an amazing debut that is just the first stone of the sonic monolith they´re going to build step by step. In this first recording, their musical influences (Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Melvins, Sleep...) get mixed with their peculiar perception of the south-spanish religious folklore. The result is a liturgic music with obsesive repetitions, minimalism, feedback, distortion and endless drones creating a primitive feeling that leads to trance and remains as a perfect soundtrack for every dark point of christianism: opression, sin, suffering, guilt and pain.
Now they´re working in new songs with new instrumentation (stand up bass, piano...) and showing influences from John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Morricone, Ligeti and religious music so they can express their spiritually in the heaviest way possible. Alone Records is proud to introduce the debut album of a band that has so much to say. And of course, they´ll have their own throne among the heaviest bands on earth.

YAWNING MAN recorded live performance for a DVD release. The show was recorded at W2 club in Den Bosch (NL), on June 17th 2005, during their first european tour the band started on 16th at De Engel club in Den Helder (NL).
5 cameras and the best crew at W2 took care of that. Feat. VJ Stalker on the recordings. Roadburn also was there, featuring their amazing video show.
Recordings are not part of this CD/DVD release, including "Rock Formations", as special edition and double release.

The band was born in the middle 80´s and it´s currently formed by: Alfredo Hernandez - drums (Across the River, Sort of Quartet, Kyuss, founding member of Queens of the Stone Age, Family Butcher, co-founder of Che and member of Desert Sessions); Mario Lalli - bass (Fatso Jetson, Orquesta del Desierto, Across the River, The Sort of Quartet) and Gary Arce - guitars (The Sort of Quartet, Oddio Gasser, Ten East).
The release plan starts with "Rock Formations", a collection of 10 new tracks recorded in late 2004. "Rock Formations" includes 10 new tracks recently recorded by YAWNING MAN. The band shows what it´s going to be one of the most celebrated albums during 2005. YAWNING MAN´s unique musical style takes the highly aclaimed Brant Bjork´s "Jalamanta" like the way to follow with their new songs. We could say that "Jalamanta" followed a way opened by YAWNING MAN years earlier. Needless to say that Gary Arce as well as Mario Lalli recorded additional guitars on "Jalamanta" and Mario sings in one of the tracks. This colaboration was a proof of respect and admiration that Brant Bjork feels for YAWNING MAN.
YAWNING MAN was the band that John Garcia (Kyuss, Hermano) and Brant Bjork used to see rehearsing when they were teenagers. In his own words, B.Bjork said about YAWNING MAN that they are the best live band he has seen ever.
Needless to say how important the YAWNING MAN´s music has been in order to understand the desert rock music scene since the middle 80´s. YAWNING MAN was responsible for influencing music in the desert and creating a sound which today is still trying to be duplicated.

Without giving a break after the great "Rock Formations", Yawning Man strikes back with "Pothead", a 10'' with four songs where they cast aside their surf vibe and develop their experimental side."Pothead" continues the trip that "Rock Formations" began and goes deep into the desert darkness in a way that just a Pink Floyd covered in sand could do. Long tunes, pychedelic and evoking, that show the same landscape from a more intimistic point of view.
In this point, there´s no need to introduce Gary Arce, Alfredo Hernández again. The list of proyects where they have been involved asImain member or just as special features gives an idea of the high quality of the musicians we´re talking about: Sort Of Quartet, Fatso Jetson, Kyuss, Oddio Gasser, QOTSA, Brant Bjork, Orquesta del Desierto, Desert Sesions, Ché, Vic Dumonte... The recording sessions features Billy Cordel (Unida) on Bass.
Enjoying the integrity, coherence and freedom wich allows being apart of the mainstream, Yawning Man follows their own path without forget that enjoying music is always the big goal in every proyect they take part of. This current release wants to introduce 2 recordings in just one cd, as a re-release from a great debut album ("Fooz") and secondly, a whole vision of their short musical career. "Fooz II: Space is Dark...", Is more than a tribute or compilation. The release includes all the songs recorded by FOOZ in their 4 years of existence.
The release can be divided in 2 stages:
The first one, in order of appearance, introduces the acoustic recordings that would have become an EP, to be released before their second album (that never was recorded), or to be used like b sides for future singles or different releases.
6 tracks, that include 3 revisited songs from their first album "Fooz", 1 previously unreleased track even in an electric treatment ("There´s a Place"), that now is included on this edition, plus 2 amazing covers ( Hawkwind´s "Space is Deep" and Pink Floyd´s "Astronomy Domine", 2 essential bands to understand Fooz´s main influences since their early days, also with The Who and Black Sabbath.
The new covers of inner and outer tracks recorded by FOOZ, told us about the posibilities and versatility of a band that could reach much further than they really did. The likes for improvisation, or how easy they catch the vibe to cover other´ songs in order to make them easily recognizable as Fooz´ songs, but being loyal to the original versions at the same time.
The second stage, belongs to "Fooz", first album release.
The current release includes the original mixes, rawer than the one released in 2001. This new release also includes 3 previously unreleased tracks, never included on "Fooz": "There´s a Place", "Leaf Tale" y "Flower´s on Me".
"Fooz" final master left out these 3 tracks that deserved to be released as well, being included in the same track order just before the final cut that left them out.
Fooz are the keepers of the Golden Chord, purveyors of the Sun Spirit and avatars of the Great Love Vibe. The ebb and flow of the energies of the greats brought directly to your ears. The hallowed spirits of Captain Beyond, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Captain Beefheart and Blue Cheer all dance to Fooz. The mystical Middle Eastern progressions that were once a large part of Fooz's native Spain mesh freely with incredibly inventive rock 'n' roll.

BLACK NASA is lead by frontman and bass-God Chris Kosnik, who cut his teeth in 90´s Shorecore heavies GODSPEED.
