“Gran Poder” es el álbum debut del trío sevillano Orthodox. La primera piedra de la catedral Sonora a la que piensan dar forma, paso a paso. En esta primera grabación, sus influencias musicales (Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Melvins, Venom, Sleep…) se mezclan con su peculiar percepción del ritual y el folclore religioso andaluz. El resultado es una música litúrgica de riffs repetitivos, minimalismo, feedback, distorsión, y drones infinitos creando una sensación de primitivismo que induce al trance y se convierte en la perfecta banda sonora de los aspectos más oscuros del cristianismo: opresión, pecado, dolor, culpa y sufrimiento.

"The Charlton Heston EP", is a tribute, unless you can feel it when you see the artwork, to one of the american heroes after John Wayne!.
Anyway, the selection of chords, tracks and the whole atmosphere, is a Space/Doom Rock experiment, 5 tracks, with the MERMAID mark. 5 lisergic, intense songs, unreleased tracks that belong to their last studio sessions from "high dimension..." CD (Safety Pin, 2001), an album that put the band in the center of the hard rock planet especially in Spain.
With "The Charlton Heston EP", The band close a phase in their usual way of composition, Hard/Doom Rock with progressive and psychedelic influences. Every song totally different about the rest. Long songs, instrumental passages and hard grooves, taken from the late 60´s and the 70´s rock´n´roll spirit. Songs with their own style. 5 lisergic, intense tracks, showing tons of variety every time.
In the same way that band like Nebula or Monster Magnet, the band takes the legacy of Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Blue Cheer, Hawkwind, Stooges, Jefferson Airplane, Beatles and the rest of glorious bands, but with an interesting conection with the Stoner/Doom Rock (Sons of Otis, Viaje a 800). Mermaid created a whole bunch of Hard Rock, full of psychedelic atmospheres, and instrumental passages.
"The Charlton Heston EP", is the first vinyl releasen in the Alone Recs rooster, suggested by the band to release this recording like a 10" - 500 copies limited quantity.

Southern Spain's VIAJE A 800. Their first album for Alone/Custom Heavy Records is “Diablo Roto dË” ... a collection of eight groove-laden doom n' roll tunes sung in their native tounge. Just a casual listen will explain why Viaje a 800 is one of the hottest underground bands in Spain right now. Turn on, tune in and dig the international language of rock.
“Diablo roto dË...” Is a stoner/heavy doom rock diamond made in the Iberian peninsula. Maybe the best album in their style ever made by here. Many few bands would be able to start with a songs like “Roto Blues”, 11 minutes of doom/blues, showing which is the real deal, under their own way. With no breath, “Cardio Límite” say Hi!, The fastest song on the album, a real 100% rock trip, together with “Solo”, maybe the best song ever written by the band, a new version included in this album, a different one from their first one appeared on their split 10” with Natas. It sounds more down-tuned than the other ones, heavy, intense,... 3 songs, like a block: the first shock!!. “Higomon 2 A”, an instrumental track, a revision of “Higomon”, from their last 10”... The track goes down, and “Largo Beso Recto” appears, a song that recover the structures of decadent blues, the favourite ones of the band... An amazing one. Now, “Higomon 2B” appears again... A very good election!!. If you like long songs, VIAJE A 800 are the best for that, so here you got “Vuelo inferno/After en Marte”, 12 minutes of pure, lisergic rock in your face, taking the esence from “Cardio Límite”,¡ showing the crazy word and the weirdest influences of the band, and their love for long instrumental passages to the infinit. Another different one is “Humo de Mota”, more in the vein of “Missisippi sound”, a short travel by the deep America, that finishes with “Valiums”, melancholic but slow and heavy too, a great track to say bye.

Fooz are the keepers of the Golden Chord, purveyors of the Sun Spirit and avatars of the Great Love Vibe. The ebb and flow of the energies of the greats brought directly to your ears. The hallowed spirits of Captain Beyond, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Captain Beefheart and Blue Cheer all dance to Fooz. The mystical Middle Eastern progressions that were once a large part of Fooz's native Spain mesh freely with incredibly inventive rock 'n' roll. The result is a frenzy of rhythm, sound and feeling. Come taste the Fooz.
“Fooz” is a great example about the band is able to offer us. Even when the album was recorded almost a year ago, the songs sound fresh and alive, supporting by an amazing production work, but showing the best of the FOOZ sound, clean and dirty guitar sounds, “trippy”, hypnotic melodies, bass sound “in your face”, but perfectly executed, easy but right drums, and an impressive vocal lines, one of the best new singers you can hear around this year. Songs like the opening “Earthwind” or “Alone you Stand” put the band in the vein of 70´s classic rock bands, even Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin are all around FOOZ. Songs like “Clouds of Words”, play with hammond vibes, forming one of the best tracks of the album, the highest quality for a FOOZ song. Others like “Smoke´s over”, put the band into the melodic and psychedelic (some melnacholic) ways of Pink Floyd... simply marvellous!!. With “Cool Guys” starts the second part of the album, a strong beginning with a softly end, semi-instrumental passages, that connect directly with “Mine”, maybe the best song. It´s time to fly, and “ Hifooz” catch you with that Zeppelian atmosphere...the same with “Mixhole Masterdoom”, quiet, hypnotic,...

Lovers of the vintage sound, The BBC have shown that with the release of their first MCD, "takin´it easy is our business", that they can make high-octane rock songs and great compositions, with a tip of the hat towards the best rock n' roll bands ever. They understand how r´n´r is supposed to be.
“Cheap´n´Down” is their first full-length album and their 2nd issue after their amazing “Takin´it easy...” from 2000. ¡And what incredible new stuff!. “Rocket Man” is powerful and speedy rock´n´roll, 4 minutes of rock in your face!. A great way to kick off a rock record!! After that, the great “The Cock Song”, funny all the time...100% Rolling Stones!!!. THE BLACKBERRY CLOUDS show us the variety of the new songs on the album and the freedom to move from one style to another and make it seamless and make it their own. A culmination of playing blues, 70´s rock, whiskey rock, 60´s garage,... all kinds of influences, all kind of styles. The mid-tempo shuffle of “Cigarrettes”, a rhythm and blues song, or tracks like “The Rope”, which could have come of of Exile on Main Street and also without a doubt one of the best songs on the album. How about a blues tune, like “If you don´t like r´n´r”, and amazing song to finish an amazing album. The Blackberry Clouds are indeed an exciting band.
