Las entradas para el concierto de THE DEVIL’S BLOOD del próximo 25 de Febrero en Barcelona – Apolo 2 - ya están a la venta.
A theatrical presentation with roots in both 1950′s horreur gothique and 1970′s psychedelic rock n roll.
We will serve you with what can best be described as a Satanic Ritual in which crowd participation becomes pivotal. You will wear our blood, you will taste our hunger, you will devour our spiritual release. Although far above you and unattainable for you in the current stages of your evolution, We, the acolytes of His immortal will, welcome you to join us in a night of violence, substance abuse, love and hate. We would just as gladly be a place of worship, a church if you will, for true believers as we would be a left hand exit point for those still on the side of the pure and holy. We would take your offering and redirect it back into The Source of Darkness. We would be your pathway to Chaos. Rejoice, the time of no time evermore is coming.
What can you expect musically? Without saying too much, or saying nothing at all, you can expect a frenzy of rock n roll flavoured hard rock that speak of times decades past, no modernisms, no trends, no high end sounds. Just Vintage rock music in the vein of Roky Erickson, Black Widow, Coven, Black Sabbath and a rich plethora of sixties and seventies undergound psychedelic rock bands too numerous to mention. Although The Devil’s Blood are inspired and fueled by their love for these bands they are not a tribute band in any way or form. Instead we offer new, original, fresh material to strengthen our live rituals and appease our Master’s senses. So even though The Devil’s Blood play “old time music” they do it with the same creative and artistic drive as their inspirators.
THE DEVIL’S BLOOD – HORROR SOUL
“The lights go low, smoke fills the room, the scents of blood and fire fill your lungs. You start to swoon and shake, it seems as though your eyes are looking through a thick red filter, the air itself seems tangible and thick. You work futilely for breath and as the chanting begins your legs buckle, but you are caught at the upper arm by strong hands on either sid…e of your body. You move, are moved, forward through the fog and an altar becomes visible, His horns become visible. You see the drained and despoiled bodies of cats, goats and other animals too violated to recognise. You see unclad men and women feasting upon each other’s nakedness with faces and torsos red with blood. Their pricks stiff enough to penetrate stone, their cunts weeping with lustful abandon, nipples hard enough to cut glass. Vaguely and yet shamefully aware of your own arousal you try to look the other way. Through the haze that your thoughts become comprehension slowly dawns. Fleeting images of the horror movies you watched as a child serve as some demented frame of reference and tell you where you are, what you are and what your purpose here is. And although the surrealistic nightmare that unfolds before you seems awfully real your mind recoils from this reality in utter disbelief… The last thing you see is the shiny silver blade that is wielded above your head, moved in perfect rhythmic canon with the music and the chanting. ”
The Devil’s Blood – Ritual Music and Satanic Verses
Taken from Roadburn.com: (Thank you to Roadburn and Drew himself for their choice. A fantastic year full of mindblowing releases).
Many excellent records came out in 2011. We don’t pretend to be arbiters of taste, we just think it’s fun to share which albums rocked our worlds, soothed our souls, lifted our spirits or otherwise burrowed into our systems this year. Of course, in addition to occupying our turntables, many of these great new releases quickly prompted the question: “Can we get them to the Roadburn festival next year?” In some cases the answer was YES, which gives us something to look forward to in 2012.
Drew’s Top 10 Albums of 2011
This year (unlike many), my top ten list had a clear cut, decisive winner. Orthodox‘s amazing doom masterpiece Baal is a record I listened to many many times, and each time I found something new to enjoy. Simultaneously avant-garde and classic, full of great riffs and excellent production, it is a record every doom fan needs to hear.
1.Orthodox – Baal (Alone Records)
2.In Solitude – The World. The Flesh. The Devil. (Metal Blade)
3.Young Widows – In And Out Of Youth And Lightness (Temporary Residence)
4.Pharaoh Overlord – Out Of Darkness (Ektro Records)
5.Chryst – PhantasmaChronica (Omniversal)
6.Widowspeak – Widowspeak (Captured Tracks)
7.Ash Borer – Ash Borer (Psychic Violence)
8.Graveyard – Hisingen Blues (Nuclear Blast)
9.Witch Mountain – South Of Salem (Mountastic Records)
10.Ulcerate – The Destroyers Of All (Relapse Records)

ORTHODOX’s recording activity has always been prolific. With 4 albums released in 6 years (including 2 albums licensed and released in the US by Southern Lord), now prepare a collection of previously unreleased songs in LP format but that already appeared on different compilations, exclusive editions or as soundtrack for some of their live performances. Covers and unreleased tracks will now see the light. The release will also offer exclusive collaborations with musicians who have shared stage and/or studio with ORTHODOX (which names will be revealed in future communications). In addition to this release, our avant-doom trio prepares the sequel to the acclaimed ‘Baal’ (released this year), but such new album will not be published until late 2012.
We also want to announce the reissue of ‘Gran Poder’, ORTHODOX’ debut album, which has been sold out and unavailable from us since our first 2 pressings in 2005. The album will also appear on 2LP, preserving original track list as was conceived by the band, different from the US version made by Southern Lord.
